Clevenger’s Corner

Thomas Jefferson once described the hills and valleys of Virginia’s Piedmont region as ‘placid and delightful.’ More than 200 years after Jefferson wrote these words, Americans still treasure this historic and picturesque rural landscape. With its rich history, fertile soil, villages, farms and vineyards, hospitable, friendly people and gentle pace of life the Virginia Piedmont is a national treasure.

Clevenger’s Corner is identified in the recently adopted 2010 Culpeper County Comprehensive Plan as a designated village center. The Future Land Use section states that “This center reflects the influence of Rt. 211, a 4-lane arterial, and its access to Northern Virginia viaWarrenton. Factors which support development include arterial access as well as market access to Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties, natural resources including the Rappahannock River and its tributaries, the existing residential community including SouthWales, and an adequate supply of land suitable for development. The village center is focused primarily south of Rt. 211, however the is planned development to the north as well.”

In looking for development and design models from which to draw inspiration, Clevenger’s Corner is fortunate to be located in the midst of numerous small towns and villages, including Culpeper, Middleburg,Warrenton, and Little Washington. With the charm of its rural setting, Clevenger’s Corner is complemented by its convenience to the economic and cultural opportunities of the national capital area. As theWashington area grows and expands, westward, both residential growth and job creation have found their way to the Piedmont area.
